I got my sofa back
I signed up for notifications from Ikea if they had my sofa back in stock.
The one i used to have. before.
its not the best sofa in the world but it was the right size and shape for my space and the best and most important part, I could buy slipcovers for it, and i had a hot pink ultrasuede set and I loved it.
Had that sofa for a few years, just long enough I was about to order a new set of slipcovers when I sprayed that flea spray that ruined my life on it and everywhere and it eventually got on and in everything from me trying to clean it and just spreading it around to more stuff.
anyway,
I got covid and i was down for a couple of weeks with that.
Started a new job i had to spend $ for new work clothes.
Would have had to do that regardless.
I dont fit in the old ones that are from 10 yrs ago now anyway and my new job is more casual and i can come up with a thousand reasons i needed a whole new work wardrobe, but truthfully id have bought new clothes for any new job im sure.
New job is hard to learn. The training has been terrible. They have me training at different times and different locations with different people each day and its so hard to learn this way. Then my cat had an emergency in the wee hours in week 2 (hes ok) and ive been so tired from Covid and coughing constantly and its just been a really hard and expensive month.
So of course ikea sends me this email saying my sofa, which i honestly thought was discontinued years ago, is in stock. and theres 3 of them in the store, by where i was working that day, right now.
and even though I imagined i would pay down some of my debt, then get a washer/dryer.. that was the plan to get the washer/dryer first since my new work clothes are fussier and i have less time at home now i have a job outside the house and it'd be nice to have a washer and dryer i wasnt scared of.
when I had covid i ran out of underwear and i did a few pairs in the machine and i swear to you after about a week of wearing the underwear id washed downstairs i started having symptoms again.
I dont believe its my imagination. But even if it is, i need new machines.
But its not. my hair dye towels and tshirt clearly smell like the stuff after washing them down there. I thoguht since i do my hair once a month, I'd eventually wash the stuff out of the machines and /or the hairdye towels but it doesnt seem to be happening at all.
Got rid of the contaminated underwear and got some new pairs.
Decided i must get washer/dryer and just never bring anything old back in the house or at least be super careful about what it is and where im washing it and never wash old stuff with new stuff.
and then i got the email
my sofa is in stock.
I took my car into the shop to get fixed and cleaned all the stuff out of it last week but they said they need parts and theyd call me when theyre ready for me to drop it off to fix it.
So there i was. 8 min from Ikea with an empty SUV that i already know the sofa fits in. Because i already brought the same sofa home in it once before.
Called a friend to meet me there after work and he helped me put it in my car, and get it back out and put it in the garage since theres no room for it in the house at the moment.
Hell there isnt room for it in the garage either.
But we made room for it.
and i ordered a new set of pink slipcovers.
last time it took 4-6 weeks for them to sew them and send them from some foreign country. They were perfect and better quality than the one that comes with the sofa. So i have 4-6 weeks to wait and then I'll have my sofa back.
MY sofa.
I wanted to cry.
Weird i didnt cry when the bad stuff was happening but i cried when I put an unassembled sofa in my garage.
Reclaiming just a little bit of what i lost.
I want carpet now.
I figure theres some order of things where I get the junk man to come take the used rental sofa I've got in here now. Its a nice sofa and not entirely different shape or size. probably technically nicer if id bought it new but its broke down on the one side and the old sofa, my sofa, ny new sofa has a space Flashy used to like to sleep in underneath.
so the junk man comes, takes the sofa and the junk in the garage away, and then thats a good time i could get carpet put in............. board the cats, do the junk guy, then the carpet install and assemble the sofa, bring the cats back after its had a day or two to offgas.
I dont know if i can make it go like that because i dont get days off i dont think for another 2 mos. not paid days off anyway. I still need to pay for all this, including but not limited to the unscheduled sofa purchase and the deductible for the car repair is coming up too.
So i guess i wait 2 mos and see if i have enough money and PTO for carpet installation.
also i will be working rotating weekend days eventually once i know how to do my job and can work unsupervised so i can probably do it then without taking time off. You get a day and a half off during the week for working an extra long weekend shift so youre not in overtime.
Part of the reason i liked the idea of this job before i took it.
I've worked every weekend day for the last two years and that's fine with me. Especially in covid times i preferred to shop when the stores were empty and have business hours to get things done, and im all for a job that doesn't want you to work overtime.
Writing this out made me decide to put off carpet till i get my weekend schedule. i think that makes the most sense.
Maybe i will get a washer/dryer soon.
I dont know what i do about the clothes honestly
and i havent decided what to do with my dressers that are out in the garage yet.
but i dont ever have to decide honestly. it can live in the garage indefinitely while i move forward.
The sofa, carpet, washer and dryer are the end of all this.
I would really like the end.
It'll be two years middle of september
i want it to be done now.
maybe its time to get carpet and a washer /dryer.
